New features on the Learning Hub are being released regularly in line with the original plan for the functionality of the platform in its Beta phase and this includes the migration of the NHS eLearning Repository.

Migrating existing content platforms to the Learning Hub enables learning resources to be shared at scale across organisations and geographical boundaries, reducing duplication and supporting innovation.  The Learning Hub will provide a more stable environment for the long term while continuing the service of launching elearning content from the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system.

The Learning Hub is a digital platform, developed by Health Education England’s Technology Enhanced Learning (HEE TEL) team, that provides easy access to a wide range of resources to support education and training in health and care.

HEE’s TEL team is now in the final stages of development for the technical requirements required to support the migration of the NHS eLearning repository this includes the ability for contributors to share elearning SCORM 1.2 resources and generate an ESR link which can be used to access and play resources from ESR.

In preparation for the release of these key features and migration, there is an immediate call to action for organisations to link in with their local IT team.

To enable learners to play and interact with elearning content via Electronic Staff Record (ESR), it is important that local IT departments ensure:

  • Web filters allow communication with domains:
    • content.learninghub.nhs.uk  (40.127.147.46)
    • content-lb.learninghub.nhs.uk  (20.90.154.205)
  • These IP domains/addresses are added to the Trusted Sites Security Zone in Internet Explorer

This action is critical to ensure a continuation in accessing resources via ESR following the migration.
