The Learning Hub – resources to support AHPs

Hannah Denness, 14 October 2021

Communications Officer

To mark Allied Health Professional (AHP) Day on 14 October we are highlighting resources on the Learning Hub specifically for colleagues within these roles.

The Learning Hub is a digital platform that provides easy access to a wide range of education and training resources for the health and care workforce. Organisations and users can contribute and share resources for those in health and care to access.

The 3 catalogues below are now live, and the collection is set to increase over the coming weeks and months.

Cheshire and Merseyside ACP Faculty

Cheshire and Merseyside AHP Faculty aims to bring together the work of AHPs across all sectors in the region – including NHS, social care, primary care, private and voluntary sectors.

All the Faculty’s resources are now hosted on the Learning Hub, alongside contact details for clinicians within the region that can be used by AHPs to support them in developing their practice and the practice of others.

Resources include videos demonstrating the involvement of AHPs in the management of conditions such as cancer, frailty and diabetes; placement tools and a physiotherapy skills passports.

Greater Manchester AHP Clinical Placement Expansion Programme

The Greater Manchester AHP Clinical Placement Expansion Programme is aiming to achieve 100 additional AHP learning environments across Greater Manchester as part of work to grow the AHP workforce.

The project is working with 7 specific AHP professions –  physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, operating department practitioners and diagnostic radiography.

The Faculty’s Learning Hub catalogue is a collection of resources for everyone involved in expansion and innovation of practice learning.

Resources include a student guide to leadership placement, student blog posts and a video for physiotherapists explaining split project placement.

Pre-Registration AHP Practice Based Learning

The Pre-Registration AHP Practice Based Learning catalogue is a collection of resources available in the Learning Hub, that are suitable for AHP colleagues.

These resources include a training matrix for occupational therapists, videos from physiotherapy students discussing their placements and a webinar on integrated health and care.

It only takes a few minutes to contribute a resource to the Learning Hub. You can sign into the Learning Hub either using an elearning for healthcare username and password or NHS OpenAthens user account details or by creating a new account on the Learning Hub and using those details. Select “Contribute a new resource” and populate the form with details including the resource title, type, description and author details.

If you have any questions or would like to explore how the Learning Hub could support you and colleagues email enquiries@learninghub.nhs.uk.
